Privacy Policy

Buckhead Butcher Shop ("we," "us," "our") runs a butcher shop at 3198 Cains Hill Place NW, Atlanta, GA 30305, an online store at buckheadbutchershop.com, and private dining, classes and events. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can do about it.

The short version

  • We collect what we need to sell you good meat and get it to you: your name, contact details, address and order history.

  • We never see or store your full card number. Card details go straight to our payment processor.

  • We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade it.

  • You can get off our email list in one click, any time.

  • Want to know what we hold on you, or want it deleted? Email hello@buckheadbutchershop.com and we will take care of it.

What we collect

When you order from the website

  • Name, email address and phone number

  • Shipping and billing addresses

  • What you ordered, when, and for how much

  • Delivery instructions and any order notes you add

  • Gift messages and recipient details, if you are sending an order to someone else

When you shop with us in person, or book an event

Our shop, classes and private events run on Toast, our point-of-sale system. If you ask for a digital receipt, give us your details at the counter, or book a class, private dinner or event, Toast records your name and contact details alongside the transaction. We may combine that with your online order history so we have one picture of you as a customer rather than two.

When you contact us or sign up for emails

  • Contact form: name, email, phone and whatever you write in the message

  • Newsletter: first name, last name and email address

  • Emails, calls and texts you send us, and our replies

When you create an account

If you create a customer account on this site, we store your saved addresses and order history so you do not have to type them again. Your password is held by Squarespace, not by us, and we cannot see it.

Automatically, when you browse

  • IP address, approximate location (usually city level), browser and device type

  • Pages you viewed, what you clicked, what you added to your cart, and where you arrived from

  • Cookies and similar technologies, described below

Payment information

Card payments on this site are processed by Squarespace Payments. Your card number, expiry date and security code go directly to the processor. We never receive them and they are never stored on our systems. What we see is the last four digits, the card brand, and whether the charge went through.

The site also accepts Apple Pay, Google Pay and Link. When you use one of those, the wallet provider handles the card details and passes us a payment token plus the contact and address information you approved.

In the shop, card payments run through Toast. Same principle: the card data goes to the processor, not to us.

How we use it

  • To take, fill, ship and support your orders

  • To run the classes, private dining and events you have booked

  • To answer your questions

  • To send order confirmations, shipping notices and other messages about a transaction you are already part of

  • To send marketing emails, if you asked for them or bought from us. You can stop these at any time

  • To understand which products and pages are working, so we stock and build better

  • To detect and prevent fraud and abuse

  • To keep the records we are required to keep, including tax, accounting and food-safety traceability records

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it with the companies that help us run the business, and only what each of them needs:

  • Squarespace — hosts this website and our online store, and processes order and account data on our behalf.

  • Squarespace Payments — processes card payments made on this site.

  • Toast — our point-of-sale system; handles in-shop and event transactions, digital receipts and customer records.

  • Eventually Ticketing — sells and manages tickets for our cooking classes and events. When you book a class, the name, email, phone and payment details you enter go to Eventually, which processes them to issue your ticket and send you class information.

  • Shipping carriers — we give them the name, address and phone number needed to deliver your order.

  • Google and Elfsight — the review feed in our footer is served by Elfsight and displays public Google reviews, so loading a page tells them your browser requested it. Our forms use Google reCAPTCHA to block spam, which also collects device and usage signals.

  • Our accountants and professional advisers — under confidentiality, for tax, bookkeeping and legal purposes.

  • Law enforcement or regulators — where we are legally required to, or where we need to protect our rights, our staff or our customers.

If the business is ever sold or merged, customer records would transfer with it. We would tell you before that happened.

Cookies and tracking

Cookies are small files your browser stores. We use them to:

  • Keep your cart and your login working. These are essential, and checkout does not function without them

  • Remember your preferences

  • Measure traffic and see which pages and products perform, using Squarespace's built-in analytics

We do not currently run advertising or retargeting trackers on this site — no Meta Pixel, no Google Ads tag, no TikTok pixel. If we add advertising tracking in future, we will update this policy and say so here before it goes live.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Essential cookies cannot be switched off without breaking checkout.

Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no agreed standard for how websites should respond to it, so we do not act on it. Our answer is the same either way: we are not running advertising trackers.

How long we keep it

  • Order and transaction records: typically seven years, in line with tax and accounting requirements.

  • Customer account and contact details: while your account is open, and for a reasonable period afterwards.

  • Marketing list: until you unsubscribe. We then keep a minimal record of the unsubscribe so we do not email you again by mistake.

  • Website analytics: according to Squarespace's own retention periods.

Your choices

Marketing emails. Every one has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Click it and you are off the list. You will still receive transactional messages such as order confirmations, shipping notices and event details, because those are part of a purchase you made.

Your information. Email hello@buckheadbutchershop.com and you can ask us to:

  • Tell you what personal information we hold about you

  • Correct anything that is wrong

  • Delete it, where we are not required to keep it

  • Send you a copy

We will confirm it is really you before we act, and we will not charge you or treat you differently for asking.

State privacy laws. Depending on where you live, you may have specific legal rights over your personal information, including the right to know, to correct, to delete, and to opt out of sale or targeted advertising. We extend the list above to every customer, whichever state you are in. For the record: we do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

Security

The site runs over HTTPS. Card data never touches our systems. Access to customer records is limited to the people who need it to do their jobs. That said, no system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If we ever suffer a breach affecting your information, we will notify you as required by law.

Where your information is held

We are a US business and our service providers store data in the United States. If you order from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Material changes — new categories of data, a new kind of company we share it with, or the introduction of advertising tracking — will be called out on this page, and we will notify you by email where the law requires it.
